MARRIED CHURCH LEADERS

 DOES THE BIBLICAL STANDARD, OF ONE MATE, STILL APPLIES, TODAY:

Jesus Christ Himself, said to the woman @ the well, the woman you have had five husbands, and the one at home, he is still not yours, ( meaning,) she had been married five times plus times ( John 4;17-19 )... Five + one @ home =?.

There are at least three possible interpretations of the word husband of one wife in 1 Timothy 3:2 in my bible studies on this subject! ) It could simply be saying that a polygamist is not qualified to be in leadership in Christ Church or be over God's chosen spiritual sons and daughters. Such spiritual leaders, as Elders, Deacons, Pastors, and Bishops, and don't leave out, Ministries Founders and Biblical Widows.

This is the most literal interpretation of the English rendering of the biblical truth but seems somewhat likely considering that polygamy was quite going on in the time that the Lord Jesus Christ and Apostle Paul times ) The Greek could literally be translated as “one-man woman.” In other words, a Church spiritual leader must be absolutely loyal to the one woman they are married to as their married mate.

This interpretation acknowledges that the original text focuses on marital status and moral purity. The Word one could also be understood to declare that, in order to be an Elder/Deacon/Pastor, a man must only be married once in the faith, other than in the case of a remarried widower who is not supported by the Church; in other words, a Pastor, Bishop, cannot be a divorcé and allow me to include, Apostles, Prophets. Evangelists and Teachers, do to the Biblical fact that Christ only has One Bride He calls His wife.

Scripture allows for some divorce in exceptional circumstances ( Matthew 19:9; ) ( 1 Corinthians 7:12–16 ). It is also important to differentiate a Believer who was divorced and remarried before they became a believing Christ Believer from a person who was divorced and remarried after becoming a Believing Christian.

Otherwise, qualified Believers should not be excluded from Church leadership because of their actions prior to coming to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. Although (1 Timothy 3:2).
This I, do know, that in the book of ( Hebrews 13:4 ), the word says, Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.)

A divorced or remarried son or daughter, only God knows their true hearts, and He Himself is the Judge, not us.

The first qualification of Elders/Deacons/Pastors, Bishops along with All Ministers is to be “above reproach in spiritual leaderships positions” ( 1 Timothy 3:2 ). If the divorce and/or remarriage had no Biblical grounds, then the son and daughter have damaged their testimony in the Church and community; the “above reproach” qualification will exclude them from the Church Ministries Leaderships rather than the “husband or Believer of one wife” ( one husband ) requirement.

An Elder/Deacon/Pastor/Bishop and All Ministers are to be a Believer whom the Church and community can look up to as an example of Christlikeness and godly leadership. If a past divorce and/or remarriage detracts from this ideal, then they should not serve in the position of Elder/Deacon/Pastor/ Bishop or and spiritual leadership office. It is important to remember that, even though a believer is disqualified from serving as an Elder/Deacon/Pastor/Bishop and Ministers, they are still a valuable member of the body of Christ. Every son and daughter of God possesses spiritual gifts ( 1 Corinthians 12:4–7 ) and is called to participate in edifying other Believers with their gifts from the Holy Spirit of God ( 1 Corinthians 12:7 ).

A Believer who is disqualified from the position of Elder/Deacon/Pastor/Bishop and All Ministers can still teach, preach, serve, pray, worship, and play an important role in the Church of the Lord God Jesus Christ because of His saving and forgiving love and grace. Amen.
