The Bible does explicitly mention black people, and it does provide indications that some individuals within its narratives were black or dark-skinned. Characters like Zipporah, Bathsheba, the Queen of Sheba, Simon of Cyrene, and the Ethiopian eunuch are suggested by scholars to have been black or of African descent based on biblical passages and historical context. The Bible does emphasize and focus on skin color. But it does make clear that salvation is for all people of all colors, races, or ethnicities.
from the Old Testament
- The Bible does identify specific people by their skin color, though there are indications that most people in the Bible were black.
- The majority of what takes place in the Bible occurs in the Middle East, where most people are, and have been for recorded history, black, brown-skinned. White people occupied lands to the north and west, while black people prevailed to the south. Asian and Indian people lived in the east. The message of the Bible is for all races, yet all the human races come from Beloved Mother Africa.
- Zipporah, Moses' wife, was from Cush (Numbers 12:1), a part of Africa.
- In Song of Solomon 1:5, the Shulamite was dark-skinned, though that may have been from exposure to the sun, judging by context.
- Some scholars believe Bathsheba (2 Samuel 11:3) was black, and the Queen of Sheba (1 Kings 10:1), who visited King Solomon, King David's son, was black. And Jesus Christ is called the son of King David. ( Just Think )
from the New Testament
- In the New Testament, the man who was pulled from the crowd to carry Jesus Christ's cross was black. We know his name, Simon, and where he was from, Cyrene ( Matthew 27:32 ). Cyrene, in what is now Libya, and they are also black people, is a Mediterranean Sea port city. People from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa settled there.
- The Ethiopian eunuch was black (Acts 8:26–40 ), as were all the people from Ethiopia then and now. Jeremiah even asked, in Jeremiah 13:23, if an Ethiopian could change his skin. What such awesome, beautiful, godly skin it is. ( Just think )
Implications for today
The Bible does focus on all people of the world, and the earth was born from one man and one woman, Adam & Eve of Alkebulan, today known as Africa. When White Western Christians read about slavery in the New Testament, it is wise to remember that in ancient times, slaves were of all races, not just blacks, of Americans who were made slaves by the white people and nations in history. Many scholars believe black people were descendants of Noah's son Ham ( Genesis 10:6–20 ), but the evidence of such a lineage is scarce. Yet God ( The Creator ) created them first on the face of the entire earth. Wow, just so amazing.
The gospel is for all people, regardless of skin color, heritage, socio-economic status, or family history. Jesus Christ offers salvation to all who come and choose to believe in His death and resurrection as propitiation for their rebellion against God.
from the old testament WE DO HAVE THE VERY SAME BLOOD AS THE HUMAN RACE:
- God created a single set of black parents for all humankind (Genesis 1:27).
- God commanded Adam and Eve, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth" (Genesis 1:28; 9:1). Adam and Eve, and later, Noah and his family, had the genetic potential to produce a variety of skin tones and features.
- At the Tower of Babel, God separated people into languages and nations (Genesis 10:32). It is suggested, but not proven, that God changed the physical characteristics of different language groups to match their new geographical homes.
- "Man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart" (1 Samuel 16:7). God makes absolutely no distinction based on skin color or physical features because we are all precious in His sight and we are His creation.
from the New Testament BELIEVERS OR NON-BELIEVERS WE ARE ONE EARTHLY FAMILY:
- God made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth (Acts 17:26). ( Just think ), The word of God translates this verse as: "God has made from One Blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth." Biblically, there is only one human “race.”
- Acts 17:26-27 also tells us that God made nations from Adam to fill the earth, intentionally placing people where He did so they could have the best chance of believing in Him: “And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us.”
- All human groups are equal in Christ's sight. There is no distinction between Jew and Gentile (non-Jew), circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free, male or female (Colossians 3:11; Galatians 3:28). No race is a "master race," nor is any ethnicity inferior, but the truth of the matter is all came out of Beloved Mother Africa and therefore are all African. Period.
